Continuing Education

Our Program

Our Continuing Education Program offers exciting classes, both athletic and academic, throughout the year. Our goal is to expand upon our program to bring diverse and pertinent continuing education opportunities to our community. If you'd like to see something offered (i.e. Learning to Knit, Cooking, Open Basketball, Lifting) or would like to offer a class please contact the appropriate person. Check back often for updates.

Current Programs

Safe Driving Text on a Roadway

5 Hour Course

Joe Wahl and Tim Knowlton teach the pre-licensing 5 hour course. Sign up at 8:15 a.m. before class starts at Gouverneur High. The classes are held the first Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please call the high school at Phone Number (315) 287-1900 to confirm the date and time for this class. Participants must stay for the entire class.

Our pool

Open Swim & Water Walking

Our pool is located in the High School next to our main gymnasium. Participant swimmers can enter with the door located on the outer of the building during non-school hours.

Times:

Our pool will open to the public at the times below starting Monday, September 10th.

Open Swim:
M-F 6:15-7:15 a.m.
W 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Sun 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Water Walking
Tues & Thurs 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Fees:

Adult: $1.25
Students: $1.00 (in HS or lower)
Adult Pass (10 swims): $12.50
Student Pass (10 swims): $10.00

Yogalates Logo

Yogalates

Ranisa Young will guide you through one hour Yogalates class every Tuesday at 5:30pm. (Please arrive 10 minutes early on the first night to register). Ranisa is a Certified ACE, Yoga Fit, and Power House Pilates Instructor.

Yogalates is a combination of Yoga and Pilates that helps improve flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. Please dress comfortably, and bring a yoga mat.

American Kang Duk Won Karate

Master Frank Palumbo, 9th degree certified Black Belt of AKDWA, teachers the art of karate to 7-12 graders and adults. Lessons emphasize personal safety, self-discipline, fitness, and respect. Beginners and individuals with previous training are all welcome to attend classes. Karate is a highly motivating activity that improves coordination, increases strength and flexibility, and allows a person to gain confidence in many areas of self-defense. Uniforms and training manuals are available through the class instructor.

Academics are stressed and reviewed in all youth programs.
