Anthony DeJesus

Week of December 9, 2019
Congratulations to Anthony DeJesus on being selected for the Casablanca Athlete of the Week. In 2019 Anthony has won every individual event he's been in at dual meets. This past weekend he finished second and third in his two events, behind two accomplished competitors from Section 3 who train all year. Anthony has 63 wins since the beginning of his 9th grade year. He is an excellent role model for his team, always completing every workout, never taking shortcuts. He is the only member of the team with perfect attendance this season. He put in off-season work this year in preparation of this season and that has paid off as he's already set one school record in the 200-yard individual medley by more than 1 second. The past two years Anthony has won both of his individual events at the Section 7/10 championship meet and has represented Gouverneur at the NYS championship meet in Long Island both years. His team expects he'll repeat that this year and wishes him the best of luck as the season shapes up.

Emily Mullin holding her certificate

Emily Mullin

Week of October 28, 2019
Congratulations to Emily Mullin on being selected for the Casablanca Athlete of the week. Emily has been a consistent and reliable member of the girls’ varsity swim team for three years. She has quietly improved and has left her mark on the program. This year she has been on each relay team that has broken school records and consistently swims either the fastest for second fastest leg of each relay. Emily's 50 yard split in the 200-yard medley relay this past weekend at the Section X Championship meet was 26.69, the fastest time ever in Gouverneur girls swimming history. Our team relied on Emily to be on each relay this meet, that gamble paid off as she led the Wildcats to a second, third and fourth place finish in the relays and she also finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle with the third fastest Wildcat time in history. Emily has never complained along the way and the only day she missed this season was to go to a swimming clinic led by an Olympic swimmer. Emily is a perfect example of good sportsmanship, dedication and positive attitude.
