Middle School
Welcome Back 2026
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at the Gouverneur Middle School!
I hope your summer has been filled with time to relax, make memories, and recharge for the year ahead. Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning to GMS, we are excited to welcome you back to a school community that is committed to helping every student succeed.
Our motto continues to guide everything we do: Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow. Together We Thrive. Those words are more than a slogan—they are a promise. Every day, we challenge ourselves to learn something new, lead through our actions, and support one another so that everyone has the opportunity to grow.
As we begin a new school year, we are focused on creating a place where students feel connected, challenged, and proud to be part of the Wildcat family. Great schools aren't built by one person—they are built by students who work hard, teachers who inspire, families who stay involved, and staff members who care deeply about kids.
This year, we will continue to strengthen our culture of kindness, responsibility, and respect through the Positivity Project and our HOPE Classroom work. Just as importantly, we will continue to provide engaging learning experiences that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and perseverance. We want our students to leave the Gouverneur Middle School not only with strong academic skills, but with the confidence and character to make a positive impact wherever life takes them.
To our Students: Show up each day ready to learn, ask questions, take healthy risks, and encourage those around you. You belong here, and we believe in your ability to accomplish great things.
To our Families: Thank you for the trust you place in us each day. Your partnership is one of the greatest strengths of our school, and we look forward to working alongside you throughout the year.
To our Faculty & Staff: Thank you for the passion, dedication, and care you bring to our students. Your commitment makes Gouverneur Middle School a place where young people can truly thrive.
A new school year always brings new opportunities. Together, let's make this a year filled with growth, achievement, meaningful relationships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Welcome back, Wildcats! It's going to be an incredible year.
Respectfully,
Michael S. Hammond
